A couple of holiday snaps

This is a photo I took today from the balcony of our holiday house and what a glorious holiday we are having!!! We knew the house had a wonderful view of the ocean but what a treat to find that we can actually view the whales as they migrate north for the spring. There are so many beautiful holiday snaps I could share, but this one was my favourites, as it shows how close to the shore these amazing mammals come. We have such a country of contrasts - on Friday, we headed inland to show the kids some snow at Barrington Tops, only to find that you need a 4wd to get up the mountain, but still travelled through some gorgeous scenery. Our days here at the coast have mostly seen clear, sunny days with cool nights, and we have had such a relaxing time going for long walks and gazing out at the ocean watching for whales (and of course lots of artwork) - it is amazing how much better the creative juices flow when you are relaxed. Sadly, we head back at the end of this week, but I know we will return fully rejuvenated ready for another full on year!! Warmest wishes to all :))

Thanks for sharing Karen! Your photo brought back memories of when I lived on the central coast of California. It was always a gift when we would spot the whales. Do enjoy every bit of your holiday, it sounds wonderful!!

Those ARE amazing photos! The whales look pale in color. Our humpback whales in the Atlantic Ocean are black.....very cool!

Thank you Deb, I think ours are mostly dark grey with white spots. There is currently a beautiful albino one located somewhere up the coast, but it has a large exclusion zone around it because they are so rare - such awe inspiring creatures!!!

Thank you Carol, it is always exciting to meet a new fellow miniature artist. Your own artwork is simply gorgeous - just the kind of miniature I love!!!!
