I have decided to launch a new listing on ebay, etsy and artfire for ACEO sized commissioned people portraits, but it has been quite a while now since I have done any, so needed an updated image to use with my listings. This is our oldest son's girlfriend, Laura, who made the perfect model. She is a beautiful girl and we love her to bits. This ACEO is not for sale.

Oriental Beauty
This is an ACEO featuring our own gorgeous Siamese called Dipsy, who is coming up to 11 years old now. He is the most loyal pet you could ask for, waiting at the door until I come home, follows me from room to room - even sits at the door of the shower until I come out!! I adore him. This ACEO was done with Faber Castell Polychromos, Lyra Skintones and Derwent Drawing pencils on drafting film and is available for sale in my ebay store.

Happy Chap finished.
Happy Chap is finished, but I'm really not sure whether to sell him or not. I rarely do any artwork to exhibit anymore, and so my supply is rapidly depleting. I really don't have the patience to put the weeks of time I used to, into producing the standard of work required for miniature art exhibitions, preferring to churn out quicker artworks every couple of days - much more fun!! Of course, that may change at any given time. That's the beauty of art - you can always move in different directions depending on your mood and the opportunities for learning never end.

WIP - Happy Chap
There were some gorgeous kookaburra's at our local wildlife sanctuary when we last went there and this is one of them. They really looked cheeky and full of myrth. Not sure if I will sell this one or save it for the miniature art exhibition - will see how it works out.
I am a happy chap (or gal) today, firstly, because I finally managed to get two tickets for the upcoming Simon and Garfunkel concerts after they added a third Sydney concert to their Australian tour (thank God!) and secondly, because Illustrators Australia accepted my application for a gallery page on their website. So, I am singing and dancing my way through the day. Hope you all are having wonderful days as well. :)

Latest ACEO - Amber Eyes
This latest ACEO is a part of the series that includes Sapphire Eyes, Emerald Eyes and Turquoise Eyes which highlights the diversity of colours that can be found in cat's eyes.
This ACEO is available to purchase in my ebay store.
I had a trial period starting the bidding at 99c for three ACEO's, and found whilst one of them went for a reasonable price, one sold for $5 and one for $11, and since it then feels like I am giving them away, I will revert back to starting the bidding at a higher price. Interestingly, the one that went for $5 (Angel of Peace) was rejected for publication on postage stamps by Zazzle, due to it's "pornographic or sexual content" LOL - that was certainly never my intention!!!!
So, after a disillusioning week, I have decided to strive for a little more direction with my art and try to branch into illustration work, which I know is extrememly hard to break into, so fingers crossed. Hopefully with perseverence, hard work and a lot of patience, some doors might eventually open.

Latest ACEO - Room for Two?
I had a lovely photo session with our new pet mice yesterday - they were so obliging. I loved this shot of one seeming to beckon to the other to join her in the crib, so couldn't resist drawing them. They really are the cutest animals. I watched one of them yesterday who was so busy for ages moving all the bedding material from different parts of their enclosure to this big mountain that she was creating. I would love to know what goes through their heads. We actually have one tan, one black and white and one pure white mouse, but I adjust the colours to suit the picture. This original ACEO is available to purchase from my ebay store. A wonderful day to all of you and hope no-one is close to the bushfires in LA :).

Latest ACEO - Shabby Chic Cat
I seem to have the artistic equivalent to writer's block at the moment. Sometimes I can't get to sleep at night with all the ideas flowing through my head, but at the moment, it is kind of the opposite, where I feel like I have come to a dead end. Hopefully this is just a phase and the creative juices will start flowing again soon. I am interested to know if other artists have the same blank phases, and how they become inspired again. Thankfully, this little ginger cat caught my eye, and I couldn't resist drawing him. He is available for sale in my ebay store.

Angel of Peace
It seems every time we turn on the news, we are bombarded with doom and gloom and negativity, whether it is the swine flu, the war in Iraq, or the downturning economic climate. I have this little angel sitting on the dresser in my bedroom and felt inspired to draw something uplifting and positive. Art is a wonderful form of escapism, where we can escape the harsh realities of every day living and focus on the beauty that surrounds us everywhere, and hopefully convey that to fellow art lovers. This ACEO is available to purchase in my ebay store :)
