A Huge Thank you

Firstly a huge thank you to Thaneeya McArdle who featured my artwork on her site Art is Fun. It was via Dors Blog that I came across this fun and informative site so if you get the chance please do check it out. You will find some great art hints and gems and come across some other talented artists as well.

I recently submitted 4 artworks for entry into the Lethbridge 10,000 Small Scale Art Prize and was notified on Friday that the following two were accepted. This is the first time I have entered this exhibition and the standard of artwork is extremely high, so I was honoured to be included in the selection.

On a final note, I have had a pack of 18 Caran D'ache Pablo pencils for a while now. They are oil based pencils like the Faber Castell Polychromos but have a creamier texture, and are a real joy to work with. I decided last week to try and source the full set of 120, but as some of you may know these Swiss made pencils don't come cheap, and so it took me several hours on the internet to track down the cheapest set (within Australia). Prices can be as high as $600-$700 for the full set in a wooden box, however for any Australian artists interested in getting them at a good price The Art Shop just got some tinned sets in and sell them for $280 plus $9.95 postage and handling.

Karen, first of all, congratulations on these two pieces being accepted into this rare show, but second, what a wonderful article this is, and reading it, and seeing the wonderful drawings and paintings accompanying it, it just astounds me to realize how far you have travelled and how many masterful works of art you have managed to produce in only five years time (and with a family in tow!) Who knows what the next five years will bring, and personally, I can't wait to see it. Kudos my friend!

Thank you so very much Sherry!!! :)

Again a special thank you to you Dors, because it was via your own feature on Art is Fun that I discovered this fabulous site. I am so loving the Pablo's - keep that site in mind if you do decide to splurge Dors, because most places charged double that even for the tinned sets.

Mona - you're a darling for all your encouragement and supportive words. Being an artist can be a lonely and insecure road and I don't think I could have persevered and got this far without the friendship of wonderful fellow artists like yourself, Dors and Sherry and the many others I have come across along the way. Logging in each day and being inspired by you and everyone and reading the wonderful comments that everyone offers spurs me on so much and makes me feel so blessed.

Hugs to all three of you!!! :) xxx
