New commission - Reese

Reese
6x8 inches
Graphite and coloured pencil on drafting film.
I have always preferred working in colour and have, until recently, thought of myself more as a coloured pencil artist, rather than a graphite pencil artist. But as I become more familiar with, and develop techniques that assist me with the graphite, I find it a more and more enjoyable medium to work with. I would be interested to know if anyone has a preference between those of my works that are done in colour and those done in graphite. This was another wonderful commission to do, as I have been blessed with such a pretty little model.

A pretty little model indeed. You have captured, somehow, the angel and the imp in one little gorgeous face. I wish I could give you a better answer than personal preference, Karen. I love colored pencil work and really like the depth colors bring to a piece. That said, I also enjoy the graphite works as they are so much like an old photo (b&w)and that too is a nice touch. Sometimes I can be so wishy-washy! LOL

Hi Karen, thats very interesting to me. I love colour, but for me I think your graphite human portraits are more appealing. Having said that I love your mandarin duck and perhaps this wouldnt have been the same in black and white... I hope you will take it just as an opinion. One thing which is common throughout is your attention to detail and particularly the characters you depict and this is really appealing to me)

Love your latest piece Karen. I could never choose between the two mediums,as I think you do so well with both.

Thank you so much Sherry, Sam and Vic. You're not wishy-washy at all Sherry - I can't even decide myself, so I can't really expect others to do it for me. I am grateful for your comments all the time. Sam, I so appreciate your opinion and thank you for your honesty - that's wonderful. Lovely to hear from you Vic!!
