Baby Self Portrait

Baby Self Portrait
8x10 inch
Acrylics and some pastels on Canson Mi-Teintes Tex Card
This portrait was really done for a challenge for the portraiture group on RedBubble. I like this one much better than my adult self portrait, and I bet you can tell from the portrait, that it was quite an OLD reference photo - LOL!!!

Karen, you have really hit your straps with this medium!

I think I like this the best of all your mediums (all of which you are so masterful, just let me say!)

Real depth and clarity, but with a wispy softness to the edges - PERFECT for the subject matter.

In the current issue of International Artist (weird that it's an Aussie magazine, but posted from Arizona!), a featured artist uses the term "Dry Media" for her gouache, inktense pencil, watercolour pencil and crayon on pastelboard pieces. She seals them with layers of Krylon spray so they need not go under glass. AS they are large pieces (60cm, 24"), this is a real bonus!

Let's see more Karen!

Cheers,

Cindy

Actually, Karen, and I don't know why this surprises me, but you look alot as a baby as you do as an adult. I always think I look so different now. You were a beautiful baby who grew up into a beautiful woman. This is so very well done!

Thank you Cindy - I really enjoy this medium too, and yet I have resisted using acrylics all this time!!! Would you mind if I ask the name of that artist - I would love to check out her work.
Thank you so much Sue.
A few people have said that Sherry - I think it might be the chubby cheeks that followed me into adulthood!!! :)
