Another artwork featuring Muhali, a lovely baby gorilla we photographed at Taronga Zoo a few years ago - by now he is probably a fully fledged teenager (poor parents), but he was very cute at the time! My son has informed me that I have the chess board facing the wrong way (to the front, instead of to the baby gorilla) - he set the board up for me, but I moved it to take the photo. We long ago gave up playing chess with this son, because he beats us every time - I don't have the patience anyway!!!
Back to doing some illustration work this week, so for now the pencils are put aside for some digital work.

Hah, Karen! I wouldn't have noticed the chessboard had you not mentioned it, but I see your son is right. I must confess that this gorgeous little gorilla is much smarter than I. I usually can't think beyond the next move so I haven't played chess since I was in high school and dated a young man who loved the game.
Me neither Sherry - it takes too much brain power for me. Our son has given up asking anyone in our family to play him poor kid - he even beats his older brothers so they won't play him. He has a very mathematical mind, which he certainly didn't inherit from me!!! :))
Definitely a cute gorilla, I havent the patience for chess either!
Yes Sam - I feel chess and art must use different parts of the brain that somehow clash with each other!!! :)
Oh, I just love this one Karen. And yes, your son was right about the chess board, too funny!
LOL Carol - you can tell I don't know much about chess - I should have checked with my son first, but didn't even think. He set the board up, and I then transferred it to where I wanted to photograph it!!! :)
