Prints removed from Ebay

I just received my first statement from Ebay since they revamped their fee structure on items that used to be in Store Inventory, and almost fell off my pirch to see how high the fees have become. It really is not worth listing cheaper items such as ACEO prints on their site anymore. So, in the manner of some of my fellow internet artist friends, I have just removed all ACEO prints from my Ebay Store. They are still all available from Etsy however. I do hope this doesn't cause inconvenience to anyone, but it was no longer sustainable to sell prints when the fees were higher than the profit margins. I will still be selling Commissioned Portraits from Ebay as well as from Etsy. A wonderful day to all of you!!!! :)

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to sell stuff on ebay. I'm working on transferring my art to various merchandise - bookmarks, etc., and I plan to try seeing if that will sell. When I looked into Etsy, that wasn't inexpensive either. They sure want to keep starving artists starving, methinks!

They sure do Deb. Actually I find Etsy really affordable. My monthly fees on Ebay are between $80aud and $120aud, whereas on Etsy, they are usually below $10aud. Ebay is fine for the more expensive items, but when it comes to prints, by the time you pay listing fees, final value fees, and store subscription fees, it just isn't worth the couple of dollars made on prints and cheaper merchandise. It used to be affordable when you could have these items in store inventory, but not with their new fees structure.

Hi Karen, I put my prints on etsy for the same reason. Etsy is so cheap but im not sure if they get as many views as on eBay. For larger work or originals they have now stopped people like me being able to feature or promote my work. I have to sell over 100 items throughout the year to qualify to put a highlight on a listing! I think i might have a look into producing some bookmarks like Deb says)

I agree with you Sam, Ebay certainly attracts the most traffic, but that may change in time as disgruntled store holders look for alternatives. It is so frustrating that they won't let you have a feature. I have had about 20 bookmarks on Ebay for the last 6 months (which I have now removed)and didn't sell one, but have sold a few on Etsy, so you really can't pick it.

Hi Karen! I know eBay fees have gone way up. It's not worth selling anything under $10. I shut down my eBay store early this year because store items don't show up in the search.

Well that's what they've changed now Akiko - ALL store items now do show up in a search, but you pay a fair bit extra for this service. Gone are the 10c per store inventory listing, and this has gone up to 40c minimum per month per listing. I totally agree - it isn't worth selling anything under $10.
