Coloured pencil on Matte Board
I had been wanting to try out a portrait using coloured pencils on matte board and had resorted to attempting another self portrait, which was rather demoralising, partly because I'm the least photogenic person out there, and partly because there are a hundred more wrinkles, sunspots and the skin has given way to gravity since I last did a self portrait - LOL. Fortunately, I was saved with the commission of this gorgeous pair of kids - far more enjoyable than trying to draw myself!!!

Molly and Kyzak are gorgeous!! I love their pose too. Well done here, Karen. I'm with you on the non-photogenic thing...and the aging thing...
Thank you Sherry - I know LOL - what can you do!? Normally I don't stop by the mirror long enough to notice, but doing a self portrait is a humbling experience!!! :)
What a gorgeous pair and as usual you have created this to perfection.
Your Work amazes me Karen I am always in awe.
Oh the self portrait I'm with you too. I only once attempted a self portrait. I am not photogenic and have got passed the point of looking in the mirror to long.
There is something about drawing an elderly man that is old, wise and wrinkled but when it comes to us females it's a very different story. LOL
Lets just say we are like a good wine and mature with age. :D
Hi Karen, What a cute pose! Great job on the skin tones, so smooth. Also love the hair and eyes. You do children so well Karen! (along with everything else you put your pencil or brush to!) Your self portrait is beautiful and I'm sure if you were to do another now, you would still be beautiful!
One of your best ever in my opinion Karen!
Really well done Karen, a lovely pose, they look very happy! Well I think everyone should do a self portrait once in a while. Im sure they are very telling...the self-portrait I did when I was 16 looked very miserable. My mum said I had a year when I was a very grumpy and rebelious teenager! Well I had no idea LOL
Thank you so much Dors, Barbara, Mona and Sam - I so enjoy all your comments!!! I think most 16 year olds have a bit of a rebellious streak Sam, but it seems you turned out to be a nice bloke afterall!!! You are lovely Barbara - thank you!!! Definitely like a good wine Dors LOL xx
Super piece Karen! They look like they were a joy to do, and such a great pose as well!
It really is a wonderful pose Tracy, which I can't take credit for, but I loved doing this drawing - thank you!!! :))
Karen- this is just exquisite. I agree with Mona- I think it's one of your best yet. Love your little piggies too.
I was happy with this one I must admit Carol - I think I prefer doing the coloured pencil portraits on the matte board, rather than the drafting film.
