Coloured pencils on Matte Board
This will be the subject of my fifth tutorial for the magazine Fine Art and Decorative Painting.
I have used this gorgeous reference photo before and used it again with the kind permission of Kaibara87 from Flickr Creative Commons. Some of you might recognise it from an earlier artwork entitled 'Turquoise Eyes" and it was because of this kitten's stunning eyes, that I decided to use it again for the tutorial.

Beautiful Karen, the richness of colours is fantastic!

This is so gorgeous! The eyes are just incredible!!
I'd be interested to know what # Issue this will appear in. Do you you know already?
I am so impressed by your skill!
Thank you for your kind comments Christine. I'm not exactly sure. One of my tutorials came out last week in issue Vol 17, No. 9., and I have another three tutorials before this one will be printed. I think that means it will be up to a new Volume. I'll keep you posted as the time gets closer, but it should be due out some time in September.
WOW! Absolutely gorgeous (and that's coming from a pretty p..i..c...k...y cat lady ;)!
LOL Thank you Sandy - that means a lot!!! :))
Absolutely gorgeous and beautiful eyes!! Great job, as always!
Thank you Akiko. I got some Multimedia Artboard today after being inspired by your beautiful work and am looking forward to trying it out!!
Just gorgeous Karen. I just finally finished my second colored pencil piece- I have alot to learn! I want to try some different supports. I do NOT like what I've been using! Yours are so lovely, I'll have to try this if I can remember to pick some up next time I'm at Dick Blick! I wish I had more time to enjoy the net- I always love seeing everyone's work- so inspiring...
Thank you so much Carol - just a little hint - I don't buy my matte board from the art shop, but get bags of offcuts from out local framer. They sell bags of offcuts for $3 each or 4 bags for $10 (which last ages) and maybe your framing shops do the same :)
