Dee Dee and Go the Socceroos!!!

Dee Dee
8x10 inches
Coloured pencils on drafting film
Who could resist doing this commission and drawing those gorgeous, soulful eyes.
Am off to bed now, as the whole family (apart from me) is getting up at 4am to watch the Socceroos play Germany - go the Aussie Socceroos!!!! I wish them all the best, but love my sleep, and I'm sure I'll hear all about it from the rest of the family in the morning!!! We have a lovely long weekend this weekend and since 3 out of our 4 boys play soccer we have had soccer games to attend on each of the three days - that's enough sport for me - LOL (I hope I don't offend all you soccer lovers!!!)

Karen, this is so cool! I love the 3D feel to this piece and am just itching to give Dee Dee's nose a rub! Beautiful as always.

Karen, I don't know how you get the black wax from the colored pencils to layer so well on drafting film. And black animals are so hard to depict. You've made it look easy. Whenever your book about colored pencil on drafting film comes out, sign me up for one of the first copies! Great work!

Thank you so much Sherry for your lovely feedback!!! :))
I think it depends which pencils you use Deb - I find the Faber Castell Polychromo black is the only one that gives me a truly black black, but I do have to do a couple of layers. I agree with you about drawing black animals (and white) and yet they seem to be the ones I get asked to do the most.
My book is on the back burner for a while now, while I concentrate on other ventures, but maybe one day - thank you Deb!!! :))

This one looks like a photo, the realism at its best! You have done a great job on the black coat and the eyes! Excellent, as always.
